What is it?

What to expect
The procedure typically lasts between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and location of the scar. After the procedure, the treated area may be red and swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. This only lasts a few days. Downtime is minimal, but it's important to follow post-treatment care instructions, which may include avoiding direct sun exposure, using a gentle cleanser and applying a soothing moisturizer.
Initial improvements in the appearance of the scar may be noticeable within a few weeks, with continued improvement over the next few months as collagen production increases. Multiple sessions are often needed to achieve optimal results, typically several weeks apart.
