A chemical solution exfoliates dead skin cells and improving skin texture.
What is it?
Chemical peels are a gentle yet impactful method to enhance skin texture and complexion. The Skin Care Center's team of experienced skin care specialists utilize chemical peels to address various skin concerns, including acne, age spots, discoloration, fine lines, and more. Chemical peels come in a variety of strengths from light to medium to deep and can be customized based on your individual needs and aesthetic goals. Experience visible improvements in just days with minimal recovery. Please note that the outcomes of your peel are greatly influenced by the proficiency of the provider administering the treatment.
What to expect
Chemical peels utilize a proven acid peel approach to remove damaged layers of skin. The process triggers your body’s natural self-healing mode and promotes faster cellular turnover. During treatment, we’ll apply a chemical solution to your skin. The treated skin will whiten, and you may feel a slight “sting” while the solution penetrates your skin. We’ll then apply a neutralizing solution to wash the chemical solution off of your skin. Your skin may be red, tight, irritated or swollen for a few days, and you’ll want to stay out of the sun until your skin heals completely.
To start your skincare journey, it is as easy as scheduling a consultation to learn more about chemical peels provided by our team of skin care expert at the Skin Care Center locations in Lake Forest, Glenview and Chicago, Illinois. Together, we’ll reveal your beautiful skin.
Your skin will feel immediately firmer and tighter after your appointment. However, chemical peels are designed to work on a long-term level through enhanced collagen and peptide production. Depending on the strength of the peel, you can expect optimal results anywhere from 2-weeks to 2-months post-treatment.
Treatment times can vary based on the peel you’ve enlisted. Most peels do not take longer than 30 minutes to perform. Most patients tolerate the procedure very well and report a slight tingling or burning sensation.
Light peels often require no downtime allowing you to return to your normal schedule immediately. You may need to take a week or so off from work with deeper peels for more severe concerns. The great thing about chemical peels is you have the option to undergo a single more invasive treatment, or a series of milder treatments to achieve your desired results.
